Adjust Water Level Toilet Tank Fluidmaster
If the fluidmaster fill valve has a stainless steel rod and clip adjust the water level by pinching the clip and sliding it up or down the rod to raise or lower the water level.
Adjust water level toilet tank fluidmaster. Turn the water on and watch it fill to see how the water level changes. Now flush the toilet. Wait 1 minute until the bowl water level recedes down and stops. Shortening the chain will make the leak guard more sensitive to potential leaks while adding slack to the chain will allow the system more leeway.
After the water stops filling the tank the water level should be roughly inchbelow the top of overflow pipe to ensure a proper flush. Once the water is off check the float which is a plastic ball attached to a long arm at the top of the fill valve. Adjusting the toilet tank water level with a fluidmaster model 400 fill valve does not require turning off the water to the tank. If the valve is still filling and the water is up to the line in the bowl then the amount of water going into the bowl is too high and needs to be adjusted.
Since the height of the float determines the water level turn the screw on top of the fill valve 1 full rotation. To adjust the water level in your toilet bowl start by removing the tank lid and noting if the water level looks too high or low. If your fluidmaster fill valve has a leak guard attachment adjusting it is very similar to the procedure you would take when adjusting a toilet flapper s floater. The fill valve uses a float that moves up and down the valve rather than a float ball.
If the water level is too low turn the dial to the left 1 2 rotations. If the water level is too high turn the dial to the right 1 2 rotations. For the newer style valve with the plastic adjustment rod turn the screw at the top of the rod to adjust the water level. To adjust the level at which the leak guard triggers merely shorten or lengthen the chain used to connect the guard to your toilet s fill lever.
Fill the bowl with a gallon of water. Take the cover of the tank off and inspect the top of your fill valve for a dial or switch. Water level is too low turn the tank water level adjustment screw clockwise to raise the float. With a pencil draw a line at the top of the water level in bowl.
Then turn off the water supply to the toilet by rotating the knob on the wall behind the toilet clockwise as far as it will go. If you hear water run use the adjustment screw at the inner end of the rod to raise the water level in the tank.
